Soy CrumbliesPosted on August 24th, 2008 @ 3:11 pm
Spend the last 2 days pouring Soy Crumblies for the upcoming season. These lil’ buggers rock …if I do say so myself *hee hee* Now to let them cure so they will be ready September 1st. Left to right: Pumpkin Cheesecake - Hayride - Country Berry Flapjacks

Also testing more Tins and so far so good - all doing very well with my preferred wick! I have 5 scents tested so far and I am very happy with the results. I am doing 10 scents total for Autumn so I’ll have another busy testing week coming up before I can pour the batches.
After I get all that done it’s on to the Chunk Pillars and Soaps *wheeeeeeeeeeeee*
Best get my butt back into the Dungeon…tons to do!

Candle Lullaby
Happily tuckerin’ alongPosted on August 22nd, 2008 @ 5:27 am
I am extremely happy! My fellow chandler and friend who tested my soy tins for me agreed that the wick I personally prefer - is the best wick for the tins. I didn’t tell her which of the two I preferred so she wouldn’t base her input on my preference. She also said they smell kick ass good *rofl* which makes me even happier. Us Chandlers tend to get what’s called candlenose and it’s a royal pita because we cannot smell our own candles at times! It’s weird! So it’s always good to get input from someone else.
On another note as I was dusting the livingroom yesterday I decided that it’s time for a new coffeetable and we also need a recliner. We only have a love seat now due to space issues and it’s not very comfy trying to watch a movie. I am in his way and he is in mine ‘ya know? *lol* The table is quite scratched up - with 2 dogs and 4 cats and a certain someone - it’s no wonder. I try and get him to use a coaster for his drinks but he just doesn’t get it. So I guess I will be looking at some coffee tables soon along with a recliner. I am tempted to get a glass top but I am not sure if that would fit in with my primitive decor. The table I have now is Apothecary style and I love it so! Maybe I can sand the top down a bit as it is quite thick and they stain and poly it. That would save some moola and I would get to keep my beloved table. I’ll see if it’s worth saving. I really do hate to get rid of it.
Ok well, I have a couple of orders to fill so I best stop yakking and get to it *lol*

Happy Thoughts!
Testing drives me insane!Posted on August 16th, 2008 @ 4:38 pm
Ok so I have been testing the soy tins and again it’s driving me bonkers. Soy can be such a pita! It will burn perfectly one day with one wick - then completely go nuts the next day with that same wick! I have narrowed it down to 2 wicks and send off two tins to my trusty sidekick and fellow chandler for testing. I want to hear what she thinks which of the 2 wicks I should go with. Once we figure this one out I get to move on to fragrance oil testing…happy happy joy joy *lol* testing is however neccessary to make a quality candle. One can’t just stick a wick in some wax and sell a candle. Nah Uh! I know of someone who does just that and lets just hope and pray she has good liability insurance! I never stop testing. Every new fragrance I add gets tested. I am so anal about testing …it’ll make you puke *lmao* Same with soap - I cure and test before I sell. I just tossed out 23 bars of a soap that I didn’t like - it had a funky play doh scent to it after it had fully cured so out it went! Testing is a MUST and while it drives me insane…I know I have to keep testing!
On a funny note…my friend wants to come over and watch me do my magic. First off that is a huge no no. Chandlers don’t let ppl watch. *lol* We work hard on our recipes and for someone to just come in and watch and possibly snatch our recipes is just a crazy idea. Yes, she also would like to make candles so I am really offended that she even asked me. Why don’t I just install home theater seating and invite the whole town? Nah Uh - I think she should go and get her supplies, start her own testing and see how hard it is to produce a quality candle! It’s all about hard work and yes…competition - especially since she lives in the same state. Us small biz ppl have a hard time as it is!
That’s it from me today…
